Fenix TK72R review
« on: February 12, 2018, 07:44:44 AM »

When Skull posted the link to this new flashlight, I knew I had to have one. Lots of money for a flashlight, but boy does it deliver!

My first impression was how heavy it is. Then I put it on the scale and I was reminded that the old MagLites I used to use were MUCH heavier, but didn't have quite as much girth. This one comes in at just under 1.5 pounds:

Compared to the Fenix PD35 that I had totally gotten used to:
It is so well-made, and laid out very intuitively. The LED display gives you a lot of info in the way of charge percentage, and approximately how much time is left on the charge, depending on the lumen setting you are using:

Three hours thirty-three minutes to go at 2,000 lumen setting:

Compared to 47 minutes at 9,000 lumen setting:

My highest lumen count in the past for any of my flashlights was 1,000 with the PD35. The TK72R at 2,000 lumens is incredibly bright. At the 9,000 lumen setting the brightness doesn't seem 4.5 brighter than 2,000....if that makes any sense to you. I'm not sure I'll ever have a use for 9,000 lumens, but it's nice to know I have it if I need it!

All in all, quite a splurge, but it's a great piece of equipment, and I'm glad I got it.

Man, that's a lot of beer...
I wonder if I duct tape 3 of the Chinese ones together, if I ever need a portable sun.

If beer is your currency, you're right, that amount of money could keep you in Coors Light for a while.

I may go ahead and splurge for that light. I have the PD35 and several other Fenix lights. I also have their battery charging station and batteries of different sizes. Plus the huge greedy corporation I work for is handing out a tax cut bonus.

I might have missed the button for it, or maybe they didn't offer it with the 20% discount. Not sure.

Yea, probably not good with the 20% off. That's ok, no ball cap is worth 20% of that l light. There are hats worth more than the light at full price.

Ordered, black hat with white logo included.

Lon, maybe you should call Fenix and ask for your hat. The discount code worked with the free hat offer. There were 4 hats offered, had to add one to cart.

I am willing to bet they will ship you a free hat. You bought their bad ass flashlight/firestarter.

I'll do that. A bald guy can never have too many hats.

Neither can a going bald guy.. I nearly got the black on black, but opted for the white logo.
